Some time away

Athena and I headed off for some time away at Phillip Island to restore our energy after being involved in children's programs. We headed to Amaroo Park and used our Youth Hostels membership. On the first evening we caught up with an old school friend of Athena's  and her family. It was relaxed and vibrant with conversation. During the evening  I was surprised by attention being caught with the progress of a barge coming into Westernport to service an oil exploration rig. The next day we enjoyed the warm sunshine at the beach, although not hot enough for us to swim. Then we visited the Nobbies and later Cape Woolamai where we walked a circuit and enjoyed panoramic views from the Nobbies in the west to Cape Patterson in the East Our drive home took us through Inverloch where we ran into friends from the past, while at the supermarket buying tea to cook on public barbeques. In the end we went with them to their home where we cooked a shared tea. Their house and land is a demonstration of ecological care, with a thermally efficient house and a garden of fruit, vegetables, bird attracting native trees and a small wetland with amphibians and insects. We continued home in the glorious late evening light, looking at farmland reaping the benefit of a la nina weather pattern.

Something flowed under a jetty while I was taking a photo of the colour of the water.

Adam

This is Adam my latest painting. It still needs a little more, I think, so it is in the contemplation mode at the moment.

Trafalgar East Hall

On Wednesday we went for a bike ride out through the flats and came upon the Trafalgar East Public Hall. It doesn't look hugely used and I suppose came about in a time of smaller farms with consequently more people in the district and before cars were really common. I love the use of corrugated iron.

4 New Small Paintings

Adamino
Adamo
Adan
Adao

I like the looseness than I get it smaller works as opposed to the larger one. I don't think that it is so much a matter of scale as of attitude to the works.

In the New Year

We celebrated the New Year with a bring and share evening at the Rectory. A sort of drop for, before, during or after, get together. I struggled to keep awake, but of course did. It all finished with sparklers on the front patio.

Since I last posted. Some things

Some work in various mediums. Mostly watercolour, but also pencil and tempera.
