Extra Adomo

Today, fun with Adomo. I've discovered the wonderfulness of thin black as opposed to gray, which as you can see I've applied to Adomo was well as some extra white. Next for my contemplation is colour, on some or all of the shapes. It is interesting the sense of difference between the actual painting and the photo that is on the blog. It is not only the processes that the photo goes through which can change the look of the work but also the scale the painting is seen at in reality or on a screen. At the moment there seems to be more liveliness on the screen than in the painting.

Adomo a new beginning

A new start to Adomo. I've used turps and metho to clean up the surface of damar varnish; to start again. I hope that this allows the paint to grip the surface. I love the shaping in with brush and paint of this part of the painting.

Aegie & Aelinn - A bit more

Here we go. Aelinn and Aegie modified after an idea played out on the computer. I'm not yet convinced they work.

Deconstructing a painting _ Adomo

A progression of photos of the destruction/deconstruction of a painting. The trouble with this painting is that I worked on it and then sealed it with damar varnish and then not liking the result tried painting over it again and found that the paint on top of the seal wouldn't dry properly. So I've reached the stage of washing off my work to get at the varnish to dissolve it and start again. The process produced some lovely images which unfortunately could not be preserved and some of the photos are better than reality because of the delights of Picasa's, I'm Feeling Lucky button.

A happy day in the studio

Aelish has been on the go for awhile. A bit more reinforcing today.

Aegie derives from an idea developed on the computer awhile ago and is perhaps a way of integrating the linear and geometric shapes. I like the look so far. I hope this continues. On the same track is the following Aelinn.

An Exhibition

A scrunched invitation to Ingrid and my exhibition. It's nice to see it hung.

Camelias down the street

Just down the street and they are lovely at this time of the year with fallen flowers, the sculpted shapes and the colours in the overcast evening light.

Painting today

I spent some time in the studio today trying to make Adibella work more fluently and feel that I've made some progress. At this stage of a painting it either moves slowly to stasis or is renovated. I think the former is most likely.

Portents of Spring

The wattle is out looking glorious and celebratory. The days are getting longer and the weeds are beginning to stir.

Since I last posted. Some things

Some work in various mediums. Mostly watercolour, but also pencil and tempera.
