On my 'smart phone' I've been playing with the app sketch n draw and this has inspired these sketches. I think that what I'd like is a combination of these and my other work involving geometric shapes. It's not completely obvious to me, emotionally, how this can happen. Perhaps I need to develop each separately and then combine them, but this seems a bit deterministic. My strongest idea is that they should develop from the beginning in relationship with each other, both the linear and geometric solids.

A Trip to Canberra
Last weekend with Felec and Tudy, we drove to Canberra to visit Clether. We had a lovely weekend together. Clether's children were all elsewhere after Saturday morning so 4 siblings were together without distractions for the weekend.
We drove up to Canberra through East Gippsland and onto the Monaro and then Canberra. As usual I was struck by the sparseness of the Monaro; after childhood imaginings of it as a fecund land. Two of Clether's children were there for Friday evening and it was enjoyable to see them.
On Saturday morning we went to the Australian Museum to see the Silk Roads Exhibition, which we enjoyed. I was reminded of how present-centric we are, living as if the past was completely marginal and perhaps it is. After this we went for a walk from Kambah Pool to Pine Island along the Murrumbidgee. In the evening Clether and Felec cooked us tea and the evening continued into conversation and film watching. We watched the French Film Welcome, a downbeat exploration of being a refugee and hope.
Sunday saw Clether, Tudy and I driving off to Tidbinbilla nature reserve to walk to Gibraltar Rocks and for Felec to do some gardening. We walked there and back and then back to Clether's for lunch. The afternoon was spent doing 'things' around the house. The evening involved a Roast meal and then a film, My Wive is an Actress, which was enjoyable. The film explored the normal dealing with living with celebrity and fortunately it ended with a believable resolution that affirmed committed relationships.
To, Monday another day on the road, driving home. A thing that interests me is that the fuel economy was better coming home. Admittedly we were coming down from elevation, but over the distance we travelled it was pleasant to see the numbers.
To home and hearth. Relationships can be a wonderful thing and I experienced this in Canberra and coming home.

Dr Who
I've read the Dr Who graphic novel, which takes me back to the indefinite past. I would have thought that I'd seen all of Dr Who episodes from this era, but I didn't recognise the stories. It was fun though. I am wearing a scarf, at the moment, that my sister wove in the era when Tom Baker was playing Dr Who, although his was knitted there is something about longish woollen scarves that links them together.
A tiny bit more on Adia
Just a little more done on Adia. Working on stretched paper in winter is quite disheartening because the paper ripples as it absorbs moisture when rain passes through. The raw umber and white band gives the painting just the right amount of depth at the moment.

Books I've enjoyed recently
I borrowed this with the intention of dipping in and out, which I did, but I ended up reading more than I expected.
I enjoyed this story and exploring Victorian London's less glamourous parts.
Now having read this, reading The Divine Comedy has risen up my list of books to read. A.N. Wilson's passion for Dante is inspiring.
