Potatoes Growing

Today we got some watering for the potatoes. As you can see from the ones in the front which look a bit stressed this is needed. We have been lucky though with at least little bits of rain now and then still falling to help the plants along.

Our First Paddle of the Summer

A Glorious day today and a chance to go for a paddle to try out our Christmas presents from Atalanta of PFD's. Off to Blue Rock Lake. I still can't work out how to paddle straight, but it is still fun paddling in the warm still air. Resting on the water, taking in the view and the silence. Now back at home my skin is can still feel the touch of the sun, although not burnt. My fingers smell of sunblock. The evocative smell of summer.

On Christmas Day

Walking back to the house on the post prandial walk. We'd walked to see how trees planted on our tree planting days were going. In particular the woolamai pine. We'd eaten well and enjoyed conversation with one heated exchange peppering up proceedings.

Agustina

Agustina not yet finished. The colour looks a bit out of control, but I quite like it.

Fiddling with Agustin and Agueda

I've fiddled a little more with Agustin lifting some shapes back through a stencil a bit.

I've taken out the white bits and am back to contemplation again.

Agneta After Awhile

I played in Gimp and then painted in the results. I'm feeling content, but who knows how long that will last.

You can see the first potatoes coming up

Potatoes are emerging. So far so good. Now I look to the weather forecasts for rain or mist. It's going to be fun getting water to these plants.

Vegetable Garden

We are planting vegetables, so far mostly potatoes. Here is Athena planting other things. Corn, beans etc. It will be interesting to see how all this turns out. Despite the pipe across soil we will have limited water to the vegetables so it will be interesting to see the results. I have heard that the best tasting vegetables are grown without irrigation, but they are 1/10th the productivity of irrigated food.

A Tractor Trip

Today I had a tractor trip. Travelling slower and higher than normal. It was a delight.

The ground looks good to me. The overlaid shapes need a little work.

Agostino

A similar process to Agostina, but with shapes to provide a contrast and a quiet conversation amongst the humming.

More Tempera Sketches and a Transformation of Agneta

I enjoyed painting these and I think they've gone as far as they can. My main hesitation about them is the white which looks a bit arbitrary.

Taking my cues from the sketches I've reworked Agneta. There is further to go.

Sketching in Egg Tempera

Today I wanted to make a painting or two in the quick reflexive way that I do from time to time. A little while ago I bought some rice paper. Today I cut up some pieces about 20 x 13 cm approximately and got going. My starting point was a painting from a couple of decades ago. A linear skeleton and then filling in the ground in a loose way. With a bit of later linear working in. Egg tempera seems to go well on rice paper. The idea came from seeing pictures in Jodhpur that were egg tempera on rice paper. It must have been very thick paper because they used to polish them with stone, I think.

Grace's life has had some amazing incidents and events. Good and bad. The shoots that she has highlighted at the end show the photographers her passion enabling rich and beautiful visual tableaux.

Satisfying in a sweet way as Lucien grows up in a labyrinthine world to find resolution and love.

Dots and a Homecoming

Nicely Modernist.
I met my sister at the Station to drive her to her place. I like the random figures in the foreground, the movement and wondering what the story is?
